The seller's brother, who confirmed the car's "investment grade" status, is a licensed chiropractor. He has no formal training in automotive valuation. He was, however, very confident.

"Numbers matching" appears in the listing title. When asked which numbers match, the seller cited the VIN, the engine number, and "the energy of the car." Two of these are verifiable.

The 2JZ-GTE is described as "stock" with "supporting modifications," a phrase the seller uses without apparent awareness of its contradictory nature. The turbochargers have been upgraded. The intercooler has been upgraded. The fuel system has been upgraded. The engine internals are stock.

The car attracted 341 comments, the most of any listing in Bring The Bids history at the time. Approximately 280 of those comments were from people who did not bid. They are all very upset about the final price.
